Unfinished Business started as a collaboration of two professionals – Kerran Larson and Mark Bailey. If you are looking for “yes men” please keep looking, as you won’t find any here. We are anything but – and sometimes we don’t even agree with each other. But we’re a very good team, primarily because we appreciate the different perspectives and experiences that each of us brings to any situation.
Our respective professional experience is as follows –
For over 35 years Kerran has worked with individuals, companies, government agencies and Iwi (Maori) organisations – from across the spectrum – and many in business. Client feedback can be summed up as – very confidential and discrete, that he (Kerran) goes where angels would not dare to tread. He always finds alternatives. He is left-field, likes direct involvement and, crucially, he walks the talk.
His experience is summed up as –
Kerran is an Associate Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management (AFNZIM), has both a Diploma and a Bachelor of Applied Management and is an accredited New Zealand consultant. He brings a strong self-reliant and well informed approach to exploring opportunities and resolving problems.
A favourite quote is:
"When you change the way you see things, the things you see change." - Anonymous
Mark has extensive real-world experience, a rare feature to find in any economist. This allows him to look at many scenarios with a potent mix of intellectual rigor and street-smarts.
His work experience to date can be summarised as –
He has found that the best decisions are made with an open mind, and that people prefer it when you are "straight up" with them – even with bad news.
"There is a solution for every problem, you just need to find it and apply it."
